‘A Jersey Affair’ by Georgina Troy: Book Review

I was really lucky to win a signed copy of A Jersey Affair by Georgina Troy on Jenny in Neverland’s blog, and I am so thankful that I did. I absolutely loved reading this book. So thank you very much to both Georgina and Jenny! 🙂

Paige Bingham, a shoe designer in Jersey, decides to go on her honeymoon to Sorrento alone after getting jilted at her wedding by her husband to be. Whilst on the honeymoon alone, Paige meets Sebastian Fielding – A handsome, successful entrepreneur who is also visiting Sorrento. After spending so much time together there, Paige and Sebastian become extremely close, but it was soon time for them to head home.

When Paige arrives back home in Jersey, she finds out that Sebastians company is taking over De Grays; the store where her shoe business is located. Confused why Sebastian never bothered to tell her this, considering how close they had become, Paige feels as though she has been deceived, so tries to ignore her feelings for him as much as possible. Paige has no choice but to put her professional life as her main priority and try to save her shoe business from falling apart. However, can she forgive the handsome Sebastian after he lied to her?jersey aff

First of all, I absolutely adore the cover of this book. The silhouettes against the lovely deep blue sky completely drew me in immediately. It reminds me of warm summer evenings where you go for a romantic walk along the beach, which I think is so beautiful.

“If I was rich…” – Guest Post by Lauren

Today, I have a wonderful guest post to share with you, written by Lauren. Here, Lauren is telling us about what she would do if she was rich. Hope you enjoy her post, and remember to go and check out her lovely blog here!

If I was rich … like GAZILLIONAIRE RICH.. I would:

1. Find an amazing Island and buy it. It has to be white sand, with a clear turquoise sea which has pink dolphins, whales and other beautiful fish swimming in it. There must be palm trees circling my amazing Mansion in the centre. I will have Apes being free to run, climb and jump around eating bananas; I would teach them to talk so they can tell me how pretty I am every single day.

2. Buy the most expensive, most amazing, most gorgeous car ever created and grind against it until the paint job comes off, pay it to be repainted and grind all over again because I would be so in love with it.

3. Swim naked in my own ocean (yes, I would own an ocean, predator free)

4. Sky dive with Robert Downey Jnr…naked…? Ha joking! In a bikini because then we would land on my Island and sunbath together, whilst sipping cocktails and having my Butler (Ryan Gosling) wait on us…. topless of course. Continue reading

“Spring fashion & beauty essentials” – Guest Post by Amy Marie

Today, I have a wonderful guest post to share with you written by Amy Marie. Here, Amy Marie is talking about her Spring Beauty Essentials and Spring Fashion Essentials! Hope you enjoy reading this post, and please head over to Amy’s blog here!

Hi everyone! My name is Amy Marie and I blog over at Cocktails in Teacups. I’ve recently come out of a bit of a bloggers slump and I decided one of the ways to prevent it happening again was to post on other blogs, just to mix it up a bit. Today the lovely Jenny is allowing me to guest post on her blog. I’ve chosen to write about my Spring Essentials in both fashion and beauty, because even though where I’m living it’s cold and foggy (joys of living at a seaside town) it is supposedly Spring and I intend to enjoy it!

Lets starts with FashionSpring Fashion Essentials

Monochrome is a key trend this season, in particular gingham. I was a big fan of tartan during the winter but I’m an even bigger fan of gingham and my wardrobe is already full of bits i’ve been collecting to embrace this trend to the max. One of my favourites and biggest bargains has been these amazing gingham print leggings from Matalan. I say leggings but they’re so much more like trousers. For starter the material is so much thicker and isn’t see through in the slightest, they have a proper waistband and a zip for fastening. I love the turn up at the ankle. And the best part? They’re ÂŁ12! Yes, ÂŁ12! I’ve purchased them to fly in when I go on holiday at the end of May, they’re really comfortable, fashionable and will look great with a t-shirt, brogues and my denim jacket.

Once again, I am completely overwhelmed by the fact that I have been nominated again for the Leibster Award. So, I am sending a huge thank you to Amy and Mia for nominating me! Please go and check out their lovely blogs! 🙂

I will admit, I have already done this award twice, so apologies for that. However, when people take their time to nominate me, I want to be able to take part as a way of thanking them. So I decided that I would combine my nominations from Amy and Mia into this post, and answer the questions each of them set 🙂

So.. Let’s go!

The rules are as follows:

  • Link the blogger who nominated you
  • Answer the questions you received
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers and come up with 11 new questions
  • Tell the nominated bloggers that you nominated them
  • Provide 11 randoms facts about yourself

My answers to Amy’s questions:

1) If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Ummm, I have no idea! I wouldn’t mind having dinner with about 20 people, but I will just pick one – Miranda Hart. I find her absolutely hilarious, and think she would be a pretty good laugh to go out with!

2) What’s the best place about where you live?

At uni – I live in the centre of town so  literally everything is in walking distance which is great!leibster
At home – It is such a beautiful and peaceful area. It’s a perfect place for families.

‘Can You Keep A Secret?’ by Sophie Kinsella: Book Review

This was the first book of Sophie Kinsella’s that I had read, and I was not in any way disappointed. I absolutely loved this book, and after reading a couple of pages I was completely hooked.

What would you do if you accidently spilt all of your juicy (or, not so juicy) secrets to a random man on a plane, and then it turns out that he was actually your boss?

The book follows the story of Emma Corrigan – a typical young woman. Although Emma is desperate to get a promotion and for her parents to be proud of her, she is pretty satisfied with her life. She has a gorgeous long term boyfriend, Connor, and she lives with her best friend of twenty one years, Lissy. However, on the return home from a business trip, Emma experiences an extremely turbulent plane journey which was about to change her life. can_you_keep_a_secret_UK

To keep her mind off the journey, Emma can’t help but spill all of her secrets to the handsome, American business man sitting next to her. Every little secret she had – from lying about her grades on her CV, to finding G-strings unbelievably uncomfortable – rushed out of her mouth and into the ears of this stranger.

Once the plane had landed, Emma was feeling rather embarrassed, but what did that matter? It’s not like she would ever see this man again…

Well, at least that is what she thought. Emma was absolutely mortified when this handsome man, Jack, turns up at her work place. It turns out, he wasn’t a stranger at all… he was the big boss of the company she worked at, who had come to pay a visit at her branch! Throughout the story, Emma tries really hard not to let this bother her, and to act as though the plane incident never happened, but Jack wasn’t having any of that.

Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements?

20140426-222421.jpg

I think everyone can relate to this photo. At some point in everyone’s life they get the toughest decision whether they should keep trying or just walk away. I’ve been in this situation many times, and it never gets any easier.

You try to weigh up the pros and cons in your head over and over but it never helps. You get back to that same moment where you have to decide perhaps not what you want, but what’s best. So many things go through your head that contradict each other, like “what If I give up when things were just about to get better/perfect?”, or “what if I hold on and I get pushed away and hurt even more?” Continue reading
