Life in a fish bowl

I feel like I am in a fish bowl.. Not literally squashed in a tiny little bowl, but sat here with everybody stopping to look at me.. I’m sure you can understand what I mean when I come around to explaining it…

I’m sat in work at the moment. It’s a pretty quiet day today so I thought I would bring in my notebook and get writing whilst it’s quiet. Our shop is on the corner of a little arcade and there is a constant flow of people walking past day in day out having a nose. Don’t get me wrong, the location is 100% perfect for business. We get so many customers just from walking past and seeing us as well as word of mouth. Continue reading

There Is Never A Right Time To Say Goodbye

So today is basically my last ever day living the “student life”.

These past three years have gone so quickly and I really am so thankful to have had the opportunity to experience university. I have had lots of ups and lots of downs over the last few years, but I think they have all been completely worth it. The downs have given me that little bit more strength and taught me several lessons to learn about life. The whole experience has been one big learning curve.

My bedroom is practically empty now… I hate it. I am spending today and tomorrow blitzing our student house before kissing it goodbye. I lived in student halls for the first two years of university and then moved out to a student flat for the final year. This flat has definitely been my favourite… I really don’t want to leave.

I’m actually trying not to think about the fact that I am leaving, otherwise it gives me a lump in my throat and makes me feel really sick with my anxiety. I was like that last year when moving out of halls too. I wasn’t strong enough to say goodbye to my old flat. I had packed everything before I went home one weekend, and then that was it. I couldn’t face the thought of going back to move my stuff out and say goodbye, so I stayed at home whilst my parents went up to collect all of my belongings and hand my keys in. Continue reading

My Primark Haul!

I’m the kind of girl who finds it pretty hard to resist buying cute girly things I see in shops, so when I walked into the new Primark this morning, I found it quite hard to control myself! In my town, Primark has recently upgraded from a two floor shop to a five floor shop, therefore it is now HUGE! I was having a browse and I fell in love with so many cute things, such as cute girly pillows and candles in the home section, Disney pj’s, make up bags… the lot!

I’m trying to budget myself at the moment. In fact, I am a lot of the time. Whenever I see things I want, I always question myself first “Do I really need it?”. Usually the answer is no and I manage to walk away with my head held high, forbidden to look back.

I was quite successful in doing that when I went into Primark this morning, but there was a few things that I just couldn’t resist. I asked myself “Do I really need it?” and answered no. But then, I looked at the price and thought “Well, it’s only a couple of pounds – it isn’t going to hurt my bank account too much, is it?”, and again, I answered no. Therefore I came out of the store with a big smile on my face seen as I treated myself at such a little price.

Here’s what I got! 🙂 Continue reading

“Why I started blogging..” – Guest Post by Nichole

Today, I am really excited to share with you a fabulous guest post written by Nichole. Here, Nichole is giving us an insight into her life, and explaining the reasons she started blogging. I hope you enjoy reading this post as much as I did, and remember to head over to Nichole’s blog here!

Hi all! My name is Nichole and I blog over at Upbeat Uplifts. I am so very excited to have this opportunity to guest blog for Jenny!

I started blogging back in February and it has quickly become a part of who I am. I love to look for the best that there is in each and every day. Life is crazy, that is no secret, and it becomes easy to feel down and be unmotivated. A lot of what happens to cause this is actually out of our control, but the thing is there is something that is in our control which can completely change life around…what is that? Well, that would be our outlook! We have complete control on how we look at the things that happen to us. I recently graduated from college (can I get a whoop whoop!) and also just completed my rookie season as a member of the dance for the NBA team in my area, The Pistons. Now that you know a little bit more about me and my background I want to share with you all why I started blogging.
