My First Book Haul

So today, I popped into WHSmith because I needed some more revision cards, and what happens? I find myself in the book section instead. I was looking through all of the books and mentally noting down the ones that caught my eye so that I could put them on my Kobo e-Reader. However, I slowly made my way over to the “clearance” section, and guess what the offer was?!

4 books for £2.

Two pound?! That’s basically 50p each… How could I refuse such a fantastic offer like that?

After lots of decision making, I finally narrowed my choice down to these four books:

‘Is This Love?’ by Sue MoorcroftPhoto 08-05-2014 17 57 27

First of all, the cover of this book really jumped out at me. I thought the design on the front of the book with the “heart tree” kind of thing was really quite a beautiful feature. I haven’t read any of Sue Moorcroft’s books, and as with all of these four books I chose, I hadn’t read any reviews about them because they were a spur of the moment buy! However, the story line sounds really interesting so I’m looking forward to giving it a go. As you may be able to tell on the picture, the very bottom of the novel has a slight mark on it which is a bit disappointing, but for the deal that I got the books for, you can’t really go wrong can you?

Are E-Readers Taking Over?

aWhilst I was in a lecture a while ago, we had a discussion about how people purchase their books nowadays. Although many people still brought books from shops, there was a vast majority of students who owned an E-Reader.

This got me thinking, what is the publishing industry going to be like in 10 years time…

I have to admit, I have my own Kobo E-Reader, which I love. Its so small, light and compact, yet very easy to read on. It is perfect for carrying around with me due to it being so light and it takes up hardly any room in my handbag, unlike an actual book.

However, the flip side of this, is that I love the feel of a new book. I absolutely adore that fresh, book-y smell (I’m sure book lovers will know what I mean by that description!) when you flick the pages for the first time. The feeling of holding a new, unopened book is amazing – It feels so precious, that you don’t want it to get damaged in any way.

Post Suggestion – Please read – Thank you :)

Mental illness is very common. Much more common than people think. There are many different causes of developing these disorders, and symptoms are different for everybody. There are so many different mental illnesses, which includes – anxiety, OCD, depression, phobia’s.

I am thinking about doing a post supporting mental health disorders, and raising awareness for it. I feel as though it doesn’t get as much attention as it should, and I want people to be able to understand it more.mental

I myself have an anxiety disorder, and trust me it is absolute hell. I don’t think people who have never had these disorders actually understand just how severe and painful (emotionally and physically) these disorders are for those who suffer from them.

Therefore, this post is merely just to get a sense of whether people think it would be a good idea, and would be interested in reading it? Obviously, I understand that for some it is a touchy subject, but I feel as though it doesn’t get enough attention, or awareness as it should.

If anybody who has a mental illness, such as depression, anxiety, OCD… anything, and would like to share their experience of it then please get in touch. In addition to the blog post I will write, I will more than happy to have a paragraph included, by each of you who would like to share a little bit about your disorder, and your coping mechanisms, or perhaps how it has changed your life.

Please comment/like this post/tweet me if you think it would be a good idea to do, and you would be interested in reading it. And again, please comment if you would be interested in featuring on the article (And if you have twitter then leave your username as it will be easier for me to contact you through there, probably!)

Many thanks, Jenny xox
