My Journey; To be continued

Something has happened to me lately that has changed things for me in the best way I can imagine. I don’t know whether I am crazy from being on cloud 9, or whether this is actually fate but it has made me want to share my journey with you right now. What I am going  through, you will here about.

I guess its a current  blog. But I am going to try and make it as interesting as I possibly can. I apologise for a lack of posts again – work has been absolutely manic over the Christmas period – but I would love it if you all followed my journey with me!!

Here’s the beginning – Enjoy ❤  Continue reading

‘Chasing Daisy’ by Paige Toon: Book Review

Having been jilted by the love of her life, Daisy makes the decision to pack her bags and move far away in order for her to move on with her life. Making the decision to give up on men and keep her past a secret, Daisy joins a team catering for the highest paid racing drivers in the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Through travelling around the world and getting to know the racing drivers, Daisy finds it hard to keep her promise to herself of keeping away from men when she meets the handsome Will Trust. The only problem is, Will is in a very serious long-term relationship, so will she ever get a happy ever after with him, or is she just kidding herself?

Once again, Paige Toon has failed to disappoint me. The more books of hers I read, the more I fall in love with her writing style.71C29sK5fwL__SL1223_

I absolutely adored this book. I smiled, I cried, I laughed and I gasped… I’m pretty sure I went through every emotion under the sun whilst reading this. The story is very much centred around the Grand Prix, therefore I wasn’t sure whether I would enjoy it very much due to not having a huge interest in race driving. However, although the majority of the book is set within the racing grounds, it is mainly focussed on the characters during that time rather than the actual races which I thought was great as it didn’t make me lose interest!

I loved all of the main characters in this book. Daisy appeared to be a very strong minded character and I found myself able to relate to some of the silly situations she found herself in. From the beginning, both Will and Luis kind of stole my heart! When you first meet Luis, he seems really grumpy and not too nice a person, but I actually saw it more as though he was flirting rather than actually being serious. I can totally understand why Daisy fell for Will – he seemed so handsome and charming from his descriptions, however the downside was that he had a serious girlfriend. Continue reading

Despite the fact I adored this book, I have to be completely honest and say that I was slightly disappointed by it. For weeks, even months, I have constantly read reviews and tweets emphasising just how amazing this book was and how it was a huge “must read”. Therefore, due to the huge hype that surrounded it, I feel as though I set my expectations too high which disappointed me in the long run.

‘The Guestbook’ by Holly Martin: Book Review

Wow… where do I even begin?!

Welcome to Willow Cottage…

Young widow and landlady, Annie Butterworth, lives next door to Willow Cottage and is always on hand to help out and provide guests with anything they need, whether it is tea or just a friendly chat. Guests of Willow Cottage are encouraged to write about their stay in The Guestbook which Annie has left in the cottage. The Guestbook is not only used by the guests staying, but also as a way of communication with Annie. This book provides entries from a huge range of different guests throughout, including Annie herself and the famous writer, Oliver Black, – Although to Annie, he is just plain old Olly… Her first kiss.Holly

What a beautiful book. The moment I entered Willow Cottage, I fell in love with it!

The story is told entirely through the cottage Guestbook which was such a fantastic and unique way of writing a novel. Before I began reading the book, I wasn’t sure whether I would enjoy it that much as I thought I may get confused with all of the separate stories by each of the different guests. But boy, was I wrong! I loved it. I was hooked from the very first entry and didn’t want to put it down at all.

I absolutely adored the main character, Annie. Everybody assumed she was this little old lady because of her name, but she was in fact a young, beautiful woman who had a passion for looking after her guests and the cottage. Annie was so likable, and no matter what was happening in her personal life, she always tried to look at the bright side of things and put her guests before herself. Being widowed, Annie had gone through a lot of trauma in her life, however she appeared to be loved by all of the locals around her which was really nice.

My First Book Haul

So today, I popped into WHSmith because I needed some more revision cards, and what happens? I find myself in the book section instead. I was looking through all of the books and mentally noting down the ones that caught my eye so that I could put them on my Kobo e-Reader. However, I slowly made my way over to the “clearance” section, and guess what the offer was?!

4 books for £2.

Two pound?! That’s basically 50p each… How could I refuse such a fantastic offer like that?

After lots of decision making, I finally narrowed my choice down to these four books:

‘Is This Love?’ by Sue MoorcroftPhoto 08-05-2014 17 57 27

First of all, the cover of this book really jumped out at me. I thought the design on the front of the book with the “heart tree” kind of thing was really quite a beautiful feature. I haven’t read any of Sue Moorcroft’s books, and as with all of these four books I chose, I hadn’t read any reviews about them because they were a spur of the moment buy! However, the story line sounds really interesting so I’m looking forward to giving it a go. As you may be able to tell on the picture, the very bottom of the novel has a slight mark on it which is a bit disappointing, but for the deal that I got the books for, you can’t really go wrong can you?

‘A Jersey Affair’ by Georgina Troy: Book Review

I was really lucky to win a signed copy of A Jersey Affair by Georgina Troy on Jenny in Neverland’s blog, and I am so thankful that I did. I absolutely loved reading this book. So thank you very much to both Georgina and Jenny! 🙂

Paige Bingham, a shoe designer in Jersey, decides to go on her honeymoon to Sorrento alone after getting jilted at her wedding by her husband to be. Whilst on the honeymoon alone, Paige meets Sebastian Fielding – A handsome, successful entrepreneur who is also visiting Sorrento. After spending so much time together there, Paige and Sebastian become extremely close, but it was soon time for them to head home.

When Paige arrives back home in Jersey, she finds out that Sebastians company is taking over De Grays; the store where her shoe business is located. Confused why Sebastian never bothered to tell her this, considering how close they had become, Paige feels as though she has been deceived, so tries to ignore her feelings for him as much as possible. Paige has no choice but to put her professional life as her main priority and try to save her shoe business from falling apart. However, can she forgive the handsome Sebastian after he lied to her?jersey aff

First of all, I absolutely adore the cover of this book. The silhouettes against the lovely deep blue sky completely drew me in immediately. It reminds me of warm summer evenings where you go for a romantic walk along the beach, which I think is so beautiful.
